The Scars We Bare
Equal parts coming-of-age film and tragic romance, The Scars We Bare tells the story of Gwendolyn Pierce and James Matthews, two twenty-somethings who meet, fall in love and excitedly look forward to the birth of their first child. In the aftermath of Gwen’s miscarriage, the couple’s idyllic relationship quickly spirals downward into drug abuse, infidelity, violence, and death as neither James nor Gwen can cope with their loss and grief. First-time director Jordan Hannah uses powerful visual imagery and music instead of dialogue to tell this story of love and loss among millennial's.
